Finished Runner

For my dear Mrs. C. who is welcoming a whole passel of people into her home for her daughter's wedding. Next week!! Travel begins in 3 days!! Also, I found "the" top to go with my skirt...so, after the wedding, I'll post a picture or 2 of the finished product.

Dancer-in-the-Making

Finally, I followed through with the idea of making a tutu. I think L's will be a little different. I like this one, but there are a lot of loose ends all over and they just get tangled up. The next plan is to have a very long piece of tulle and just gather it all up instead of all the little strips and tying them on to the elastic. We'll see when that one happens... L wasn't too sure about the feel of the tulle anyways. I used it as a barrier between me with my cutting board and her. She crawled around instead of through. :) Who needs a baby gate?? Hehe.

Recent Projects

Here is a sweater that Kj had that I didn't want to just throw away, but it had some large brown stains on the front left side. I decided I would put a few flowers on it with ribbon, but then added a pocket and stems to finish off the project.

Shortly after L was born a cousin brought over some hats for the girls. Kj and L have been enjoying them ever since and are now growing out of them. So, my mom had come for the weekend and was asking me to make one for my grandma, to see if she would like it, and we found the perfect material...coordinating, but at two different stores! This is a very short and easy project with a little guesswork for the top circle piece. I think we now have figured out which kitchen containers have just the right lid for each size!

Having two girls, multiple baby-dolls and only one baby-doll blanket, I decided was an easily solved problem. So, a couple mornings ago, I started and finished this little project. I happened to have a bag of 4x4 squares cut out by someone, and copied the pattern our other baby-doll blanket. Yeah! It got me excited to do more sewing...even though I have a trip to plan and pack for! Why not add another "to-do" to my list!?

My latest project, since the baby-doll blanket only took a morning! I thought I would try to whip up a hostess gift for my friend's mama. She is letting another friend and me stay at her home for her daughter's wedding.

*Note: In the last picture the top table runner was made by my Mama #2 - not me.

Mild Panic

My heart is starting to race. My mind is whirling. I have realized that in 2 weeks my friend is getting married. And that means that in one week and a few days, I will be leaving my family and flying away. And that means that in a weeks time I need to pack up everything needed for a wonderful vacation for myself and some grandparent time for my girls. That's a lot of packing. I also got a call today saying that it is hot...a little different from the possible snow that we are getting here this weekend.

Phil. 4.13: I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Ah! It will be a week of list making and preparations. Enjoy the journey!

Sewing!!

Yeah, I did some more sewing recently. Let's see if I can list all the projects:
  • Skirt for A's wedding (main project) - only hook and eye left to attach
  • 3 hats (Kj, L, my Grandma V.) - "Mama's Roxanne Hats"
  • Sweater embellishing to cover up stains - next time I want to try these Fabric Flowers
Well, it doesn't add up to much, but it sure seemed like a lot at the time! And I think I am on a roll. With some of the excess hat fabric, I am going to add a skirt to another one of Kj's t-shirts. Every day she announces very enthusiastically, "Mama, I want to wear a dress!" To myself, I think, "Surprise, surprise." I really do like it though. Did I just tell you those exact things in the last blog? Hahaha...I'll have to look back and check. Well, skirts don't even have as much appeal in her mind compared to dresses...maybe I should attach her skirts to their coordinating tops and hang them in the closet! Ha!

Oh, and if you go to the Fabric Flowers link above, scroll down to the bottom where the bag is...I think I want to make one of those as well. But we'll see how long my "roll" lasts! I'll post pictures soon, but for now, "Good night!"
