Six Months!

Can you believe it!?  This boy child is 6 months already!  Oh, we love him!  He's sleeping like a newborn, but rolling, laughing, eating, loving and loved!

A billboard I drove past had a picture of a cat next to the note:  "The best 10 lbs. I ever gained."  I had to do my own version.  This is "The best 16 lbs. I ever gained." ...I mean, along with the siblings of course!

We've started foods a little differently with each child.  This time around, he's getting egg yokes, chicken heart, salmon, sweet potatoes, avocado, banana and basically what we're eating.  If it's simple enough, we'll let him test it.  He won't be having our store-bought chicken tortilla soup for a while...we don't consider that simple foods.

He didn't get a whole lot off of this sweet potato wedge, but he was able to practice grabbing, chewing, and it kept him contentedly occupied so we could all eat together!

Formula Feeding Tip

Two weeks ago we welcomed a babe into our lives.  Middle of the night formula feedings were inevitable, and here is what's working...

We have a water bottle that keeps it's contents hot or cold.  In the evening, we rinse it with hot water and then fill it with water the temperature that the formula should be.  As long as we close the lid all the way, the water stays just right to prepare bottles all night long!  No waiting for the water to warm up or having a bottle warmer or however we've previously gotten it just right!  Ah, such a pleasant discovery!

Colorful Baby Food

I've been enjoying making some new baby foods this past month.  Many that I don't think I made for the first two.  Spinach - just bought a bag of frozen, thawed, and chopped a little finer.  I heat it up a bit with the rest of the meal, but didn't initially cook it.  Red and yellow peppers - chopped, but not cooked.  Cauliflower - steamed and pureed, I did make this for the girls.  Look at how the colors match these blocks so well!

I also bought two bags of cranberries around Thanksgiving and have made Cranberry-pear Sauce and Cranberry-apple Sauce.  I found this recipe to base it off of.  I did use water instead of juice, but think I would add juice next time and no other fruits.

Love this smile!!
