Sewing to Nursery

The start...  Ever since we moved into this house, this little room has been "mine".  I have used it for my sewing room/storage room, along with the adjoining closet.  This spring, I had to start giving it up.  Mentally first, but then physically.  Thankfully, Kevin doesn't mind that the sewing table fits in our room.  Eventually, I suppose it will in habit a corner of our basement, but for now, it uses a small portion of a walkway to my dresser in the master bedroom.

After moving everything out of the room, the first thing to change was the walls.  And while we were at it we painted the ceiling!  This is actually the first room that I had any part of painting.  :)  Friends and family helped on move-in weekend painting the 2 main bedrooms, my mom painted my dining room and Kevin painted the bathroom (I've only painted closets so far).

My mom visited for a week, to take care of the girls and then to help me with the painting.  Here she is rolling on the yellow.

Prior to the room painting weekend, Kevin and I had found a dresser on Craig's List.  It was expensive, but just what we needed.  We headed over to take a look at it and decided against it because of drawer cracks, etc.  On our way home we saw rummage sale sign.  I asked Kevin to stop and we bought this changing table for $3!!  I painted it with closet paint (tan to white), and we found bins to use for drawers.  Kevin also took a part a wobbly table to put a shelf piece on the bottom level. What a handy man he is!

The final product (mostly) with the sunshine coming in!  Final home visit today!  I'm not sure how long after that.  Kevin was holding our 6 month old niece this weekend and said, "We need one of these."  :)  Maybe soon!  I had a quilt to put up on the walls, but the color didn't quite match (to my liking) so, I will have to rethink my wall decor.

Black Thread Day

It is again a productive Monday.  This week while working on my "Purging Project", I unearthed a large amount of unfinished projects.  I tried working on a few on Saturday, but only got a couple buttons sewed on.  Today, during naptime I gathered the bits that needed black thread.  Maybe I'll get a little time tonight to finish up the last project, a bag.  Here is what I did:

(L-R) Ironed patch on Kevin's pants, finished sewing elastic casing on friend E's pants, hemmed around flannel blanket, fixed holes in home made leggers, finished sewing bag/purse (Total: 5)!

Just Broke My Hammer

Just thought I would share with you all some of my Purging Plan Progress. This isn't actually officially on this list, but it is helping me! The girls are off playing with their Nana today. That way I could get a good chunk of the basement done, mainly the toys! I am also having a little extra fun with some demolition and reorganization.

Can you see the progress?  No?  Haha...  Below is the shelf I moved from the storage room to the laundry room.  It's not like this now, but my sorting laundry baskets will line up in front of the bottom shelf.  Under that picture is where they used to be, now a empty white wall...Egress window spot??

The next two pictures are two sides of the former hidden toy closet, now where I'll put dress-up clothes, doll clothes, and Mega Bloks, this will be accessible to the girls once I clean up my mess.  Off to do some vacuuming!  Oh, can you spy the broken hammer.  I pulled off that board and all that is left is the support board across from the hammer head...I'll leave that for Kevin...my screw driver was bending!  Don't want to break that too.

Addendum:
According to Kevin this was a "piddly tack hammer" and you aren't supposed to pry boards off the wall with it.  He admits that possibly he would have tried it too, but just because he was being lazy (not his lack of education on the matter), and then he would think, "Oh, this is just for little nails."
